 Social Accountability Policies

ELMICH HOUSEWARES MANUFACTURING COMPANY LIMITED commits to complying with and implementing the SA8000 requirements; local, national and all other applicable laws, prevailing industry standards, other requirements to which Elmich subscribes. When such laws, standards or other requirements to which Elmich subscribes and this standard address the same issue, the provision most favourable to workers shall apply.

Child Labour:  Elmich shall not engage in or support the use of child labour and our subcontractors and suppliers also shall not use child labour that is under 15 years old or higher if compulsory education laws are requested for the age of over 15 years old.

Forced and compulsory labour:  Elmich shall not engage in or support the use of forced or compulsory labour under any kind. Our subcontractors and suppliers also shall not use forced or compulsory labour, or cooperate with companies using such labour.

Health and safety: Elmich commits to providing health, safety and other workplace conditions that comply with the applicable laws, including dormitory for workers if any.

Freedom of association and right to collective bargaining:  All personnel shall have the right to form, join and organise trade union(s) of their choice. The organisation shall not interfere in any way with the establishment, functioning or administration of workers’ organisation(s) that are permited by Vietnamese laws. In situations where the right to freedom of association and collective bargaining are restricted under law, Elmich shall allow workers to freely elect their own representatives.

Discrimination: Elmich shall not engage in or support discrimination in hiring, remuneration, access to training, promotion, termination or retirement based on race, national or territorial or social origin, caste, birth, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, family responsibilities, marital status, union membership, political opinions, age or any other condition that could give rise to discrimination.

Disciplinary practices: Elmich shall treat all personnel with dignity and respect. We shall not engage in or tolerate the use of corporal punishment, mental or physical coercion or verbal abuse of personnel. No harsh or inhumane treatment is allowed.

Working hours: Employees are not forced to work more than 60 hours per week, including overtime, or the working time in national labour laws. Emloyees have at least one day-off (24 hours continuously) per each 7 days.

Remuneration: Salary shall be paid by Elmich to employees for all of their working hours, basing on a premium rate as defined by national laws and local laws, whichever is higher. Wage for overtime is based on the applicable laws and Elmich shall provide every right required by the national laws.

Management system: Senior management shall write a policy statement to inform personnel, in all appropriate languages, that it has chosen to comply with SA8000. Elmich shall regularly conduct a management review of its policy statement, policies, procedures implementing this Standard and performance results, in order to continually improve.

Elmich shall make our policy statement publicly available in an effective form and manner to interested parties, upon request.
